Need info on place to stay in Goodyear, AZ (revisited)

There was a subject on Goodyear here but it was a bit old. So, I am asking again for recommendations of places to stay in the Goodyear area. Thanks

Chip for Mercedes 210hp M2 diesel

Does anyone know if a performance chip is available for this type of engine? If so, who makes it and where can I get one? Thanks

RE: Now hiring - Gas Line Testing Techs - training provided

dont know about heath but scc has not.janree how is it in ca herd yall were getting union pay are u getting rich?how much longer is cal work going to last? montemnt Yes we are getting union pay. NO we ARE NOT getting rich. The survey we are doing is a little different than a normal one. We have to drive WAY more that usual. With the price of gas being WAY more higher in CA, it takes a pile more money to put gas/diesel in the daily work vehicles. Also, the site rents out here are exorbitant! We had to pay $1036.00 per month when we were down in the peninsula area!(Pacifica) Almost everything else is at least 10-20% more expensive out here too. (food, staples, etc.) With Chuck and I both working, we are able to put back a little, but that is ending in a week, as he has to go home to help his mother for a while. I don't know why anyone in their right mind would want to live in CA on purpose! These people pay through the nose to live here. The job is supposed to last 2-3 more years, if what I have been told is true. They just expanded the survey regions and are supposed to open up regular survey in all regions. (as opposed to the audit (spot) surveys we are doing now) SCC has been trying to hire 30-40 people just to work in CA. Some they have hired have family out here so it is working out well for those people. So far, we have been able to get by on the 64 cents a mile they continue to pay us when we move to each new job location. Our rig gets 10 mpg though. Some of the others with bigger rigs may not be doing as well.

RE: Now hiring - Gas Line Testing Techs - training provided

So, has SCC or Heath made any adjustments in their vehicle allowances based on the recent, quick increase in fuel costs? Hey bob, Thanks for continuing to participate in this thread. Your questions are most welcome. Southern Cross has not raised the mileage rate as of yet. It is still 64 cents a mile for travel from job location to job location, and $2.30 per hour for the use of your vehicle to work out of. Just a reminder... this thread is specific to SOUTHERN CROSS CORP information. Asking about info for other companies will likely not get you the information you seek. There may be other threads on here that can answer your questions about companies other than SCC. Best regards,

RE: dynamax owners wanted

Cookies, Sorry to hear you have had such trouble. I too had multiple major problems that needed to be addressed. I just kept calling and calling, whether they called me back or not. So I just basically bugged the******out of them until they got back with me addressed the problems. We had to take ours to the factory to get things straightened out. We stayed free while there, but had to pay for the diesel to get there. I tried in vain to get reimbursed for the fuel cost but they wouldn't budge on that. We were supposed to be there a week but ended up there for 3 weeks. They got most of the things fixed, but we still have a few they will need to repair sometime in the future. We are still under warranty so every time something else goes wrong, I make them (Dan) document it in our file so it can be fixed free of charge when we are able to get back up to the factory. We still have 2 years left on our warranty, but I don't know when we can get time to get back to Elkhart. That's why I make them add to our file, so in case we can't get up there before the warranty runs out, they will still have to fix the problems because they occurred before it expired. We also really like the way the coach drives and handles. We only have a Mercedes 210, but it seems to work well. I wish we had the 300 CAT or at least the Mercedes 250, but that will have to wait for when we win the lottery :) I am going to check to see if there is a chip we can install or something from Banks that can boost the hp. If we could jut boost it up to 250, I think that would make a big difference. We have a Dynaquest 32. Wish we had a custom built 35, but again, waiting on the lottery call to upgrade to that. We get all kinds of compliments on our rig. The "big truck" front end is a novelty I guess. Even the truckers at the fuel islands seem to think it is really cool. Right now, we are very happy with the 10mpg we are getting. As long as we keep it between 55-65mph it gets a constant 10mpg. With diesel prices going through the roof, that amount of mpg is very welcome.

RE: dynamax owners wanted

Serice has been terrible. The factory is disorganized and unresponsive. My local dealer (whom I think has since lost the line) was so bad I was forced to send my unit back to the factory for service & warranty items...at my own expense! And it still sidn't come back right. Exterior fit & finish is mediocre at best. Washer/dryer doesn't work, same with the DW...Basement storage weak. Interior storage a little better but still weak. I think if I had a local dealer, my experience would be much different. But boy does it look and handle great & it pulls anything can put behind it without flinching. Cookies... You need to call Dan Johnston at the Dynamax factory and tell him what problems you have. If you are very unhappy with what the factory has done (or not done) so far, let him know. His direct line is: 888-295-7859; ext. 212 We have found that sometimes they are slow, but all our issues have been addressed eventually. You have to make sure they know exactly what you want done and be persistant. It's a pain I know, but a necessary evil when you are dependent on the factory to get the warranty work done.

Will they hire teams as in husband and wife? Yes, DH and I work as a team. You just have to let them know upfront that you both want to work.

RE: Work This Fall Hanging Christmas Lights/Decorations

"bump" is a term used to describe the process of posting to your own thread in order to bring your own thread back to the top of the Forum. "Janree" is trying to keep this thread nearer the top of the Workamping Forum, presumably so that interested people will be more likely to read it. Nothing wrong with that. You see it a lot on certain forums. right you are Obi Wan...:B

RE: Workamp in a Class C?

We workamp in our 32 ft Dynamax Dynaquest. Before the Dynamax, we had a 29ft Phoenix Cruiser. Really not much difference in the 2. Just Dynamax has wider slideouts. As far as "stuff" is concerned, we have found the size of our rig has "helped" us with our tendency to carry too much stuff that we really don't need. Even at that, every year, when we return home for our winter break, we end up taking out a bunch of things we really don't need. Seems "stuff" can multiply like rabbits all in its own in those storage bins :h You may end up having to have a little "get away" time from your significant other from time to time. When this happens to us, one or the other of us has never had a problem finding a place to go that doesn't offend the other one. As stated above, Walmart and the local library can serve more purposes than shopping and WIFI access :B

RE: Now hiring - Gas Line Testing Techs - training provided

OK, to clarify... Currently, SCC has no work in VA, so at the moment that would be a mute point. When you work for SCC you work for a GA company. Your paycheck comes from GA. You do not make your money in whatever state they send you to. You make your money in GA. I don't know if GA has an income tax but I have never paid income tax in GA since I am a TN resident. (and I live more than 100 miles from where SCC has its offices, so my per dium is not taxed) Just as BC did...If you have questions about tax subjects as it pertains to this job or company, please call the home office and ask them the regulations.

RE: Now hiring - Gas Line Testing Techs - training provided

As far as this job is concerned, you do not pay income tax in any State you work in (other than if your home of record State has one). For example, our home of record is Tennessee. That State does not have an income tax (at least not on wages) We are paid just like we would be if we were only working in TN. The fact that we work in multiple states makes no difference. We are not paid by a company that is not headquartered in those States, nor are we residents of those States. I think it has to do with the length of time you work in a State, other than your own, and the distance from your home of record. But the people at SCC know what is allowed and can explain it to you if you have further questions. If you are working within (I think) 100 miles of your home of record, then you do get Federal Income Tax taken out of your per diem though. Hope this helps answer your question. Also, SCC is notorious for not calling you back in a timely fashion once you submit an application. You have to hound them. But on the other hand, they don't seem to mind the hounding. :-)

RE: Now hiring - Gas Line Testing Techs - training provided

Ok, here are some quick answers to the last three posts... sflsbrkr- www.southerncrosscorp.com Pond Jumper- The jobs listed on the website that pay $11 per hour, are for permanent technicians that live in the areas where SCC has work, not "travelers". The starting hourly pay for traveling technicians is $8 hr. However, with per diem and vehicle allowance, a traveler's hourly pay comes out to about $15 per hour. The Permanent jobs you saw do not get per diem. lockdoc- Yes, they are still looking for traveling technicians. Oh and Pond Jumper... last time I looked, I was still of the female persuasion :E Of course I am getting older and they say the eyesight is the first to go:W :B

RE: dynamax owners wanted

I've been condidering a Dynamax, how is the aftermarket service? Aftermarket service it good. They work with you to get any problems worked out. I believe they still have a 3 year factory warranty that comes with each unit.
